Frequently Asked Questions

For which machines are the 225mm 8-hole hook-and-loop sanding discs suitable?

These discs are specifically designed for long-neck sanders and drywall sanders with a 225 mm backing pad and an 8-hole dust extraction pattern, such as the Flex WST 700, Mirka DEROS, Festool PLANEX, Menzer LHS 225, and similar long-neck sanders. Please check the diameter and hole pattern before purchasing.

What are 225mm grinding wheels mainly used for?

The large 225mm discs are specially designed for sanding walls and ceilings with long-neck sanders—ideal for drywall, plasterboard, plaster, and joint compound. They allow for fast and even sanding of large surfaces without the need for a ladder or scaffolding.

What grit size do you recommend for drywall and plaster?

For the initial sanding of fresh spackling compound, we recommend K40–K60; for intermediate sanding, K80–K120; and for final sanding before painting, K150–K240. Corundum is particularly well-suited for mineral substrates such as gypsum and plaster.

What is the advantage of the 8-hole pattern on 225mm discs?

The 8-hole pattern is designed to fit the dust extraction ports on standard long-neck sanders. Direct dust extraction at the sanding surface is particularly important when working on walls—it significantly reduces the massive amount of dust generated during plaster sanding and keeps the work area clean at all times.

Can the discs also be used on wood and metal?

Yes, corundum aluminum oxide is generally suitable for wood, metal, paint, and varnish. However, the 225mm discs are mainly used for wall and ceiling work, as long-neck sanders were primarily designed for these applications.
