Why use washi paper ribbon?
- Clean paint edges: thin backing material for precise masking.
- Tear-resistant and flexible: it unrolls smoothly and can be applied in a controlled manner even over longer distances.
- For indoor and outdoor use: UV-resistant and suitable for temporary outdoor projects.
- Suitable for many surfaces: works on smooth walls, wood, glass, metal, plastic, tile, and painted surfaces. Please test on delicate surfaces first.
Washi tape, gold ribbon, or regular painter's tape?
| Band | When is it a good idea? |
|---|---|
| Gold Tape / Washi Tape | For visible edges, painting projects, renovations, and precise masking. |
| Standard painter's tape | For quick, rough masking jobs where the edge of the paint isn't as critical. |
| Wide Masking Tape | When additional protective surface area is more important than fine, precise edges. |
How to Achieve Sharp Color Edges
- Clean the surface: Work on a dry, dust-free, and grease-free surface.
- Apply the gold ribbon straight and press the edge firmly.
- For rough or textured surfaces, apply a thin coat of primer or acrylic paint to the edge.
- Do not push the paint or varnish lengthwise under the edge; instead, work away from the edge of the strip in a controlled manner.
- Peel off the tape at a shallow angle while the paint is still not fully cured.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the set mixed?
No. You select a set and receive 3 rolls of the same width: 3 x 30 mm, 3 x 40 mm, or 3 x 50 mm.
Is washi tape the same thing as gold ribbon?
In the painting industry, gold tape is often regarded as a precise masking tape made of washi paper. It is thinner and more pliable than regular masking tape.
Is gold tape better than regular painter's tape?
Yes, for visible color edges. Gold washi tape is thinner, more tear-resistant, and more precise than regular masking tape.
Can I use the tape on freshly painted walls?
Proceed with caution. Fresh paint should be completely dry. Always test the adhesion on delicate, old, or freshly coated surfaces.
Can I use the gold ribbon outdoors?
Yes, it is UV-resistant. In direct sunlight, rain, or on rough surfaces, we recommend a shorter application time and prompt removal once the work is complete.

This gold masking tape is ideal for precise masking when painting and varnishing—for example, window frames, doors, baseboards, wall-ceiling junctions, and straight paint edges. It adheres securely to smooth and slightly rough surfaces without allowing paint to seep through.
What sizes are included in the 3-pack?
The 3-pack includes one roll each in 30 mm, 40 mm, and 50 mm widths—each 50 meters long. This ensures you always have the right width on hand for any masking job.
How long can the painter's tape remain on the surface?
The Premium Gold Tape is designed to remain on the surface for up to 14 days without leaving any adhesive residue. In direct sunlight or at very high temperatures, we recommend using it for a shorter period of time.
Does the gold tape leave adhesive residue?
No, the Premium Gold Tape can be removed without leaving any residue if it is taken off within the recommended wear time of up to 14 days. For best results, peel off the tape shortly after painting—while it is still slightly damp—at a 45-degree angle.
